Creativity is family. Sauki family at the Russian Museum Automatic translate
The Russian Museum continues the exhibition of creative works of the Sauka family, whose work balances on the verge between the divine beauty and the abominations of hell and has a strong influence on the formation of contemporary Lithuanian art.
Since May 17, visitors to the Marble Palace of the Russian Museum can see the works of Sharunas Sauki, as well as his wife - Nomeda Saukene, and his son - Mikolas Sauki.
Pictures of Sharunas Sauki were exhibited more than once in art galleries in Hungary, Germany, Poland, Luxembourg, Sweden and Brazil. Now, with his "painting of the ugly" can meet the Russians. The creator draws inspiration from the contrast inherent in our century, where in close antagonism the original beauty of the world intertwines with the sinfulness of a weak human nature. A specific feature of Sharunas Sauki’s painting is the depiction of vice through the illusion of luxury. At first glance, his paintings evoke a sense of beauty, but when you start to look closely, you find that the "vessel" of the beautiful is full of impurities. The scenes of hell, fornication and betrayal with the participation of historical persons, modern politicians, actors and other famous people are experienced by the author deeply personally.
Nomeda Saukene portrays destructive reality in a gentle, feminine manner. Therefore, her paintings are easier to perceive, but the emotions generated by them are more difficult to survive. Even the image of children walking through the forest does not cause pacification, but a feeling of anxiety.
Mykolas Sauki captures a similar outlook in sculptures. His favorite topic is the birth of the human body and its destruction under the influence of the “decaying” mind in the vices.
The exhibition is not recommended for people with an unstable nervous system.
