The collection of the National Art Museum of Belarus replenished with the works of Marc Chagall Automatic translate

The acquaintance of Belarusians with the work of the world famous artist Marc Chagall is limited to those rare exhibitions that have been held since 1997 on his birthday. The museum took part in exhibitions indirectly, providing premises for exhibitions, as well as the work of its employees, helping to organize exhibition days in such a way that visitors could every year discover new facets of Chagall’s creativity.

However, in the museum’s collection, until July 24, 2012 there was not a single painting, not even a sketch of the artist. If we were talking about a lesser-known and influential creator, then the lack of work, perhaps, would not have seemed such a huge cultural gap. But Marc Chagall had such an impact on the development of painting that his work was urgently needed by the museum. And, with a light hand, “Belgazprombank”, they were included in the collection on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the artist.

The collection was supplemented by two works on biblical subjects. One of the prints conveys Chagall’s vision of the “Way of the Cross”, the other - “Visions of the Apocalypse”. Both prints bear the personal signature of the artist and first showed themselves to the world in 1964. The graphic sheets handed over to the museum attracted special attention among museum visitors during the celebrations. And this is not surprising, because is there a better way to remember the departed creator than to contemplate his work?
