Butterfly wings instead of paints in paintings - a unique exhibition in Izhevsk

In the city of Izhevsk opened an unusual exhibition of paintings by the artist from Lipetsk, Vadim Zaretsky. The paintings settled in the hall of the Gallery exhibition center, immediately arousing the great interest of gallery visitors. The fact is that Zaretsky makes his paintings in an unusual technique for painting, which can be quickly characterized as a mosaic. The most interesting thing is the material from which these mosaic panels are composed, which are absolutely no different in appearance from paintings painted with a brush.

Instead of paints, Zaretsky uses pieces of the wings of dried butterflies. In the world there are only two people working with the use of such technology in creating paintings. Vadim Zaretsky is the first such artist in Russia, as two creators of paintings from butterflies live in China.

The creation of such paintings requires painstaking work and a subtle sense of color, because the wings of butterflies have an infinite number of shades. The artist begins his work by drawing a sketch of a future painting, and then it is covered with scales of insect wings. They are so small that a huge amount of them leaves per centimeter of the canvas. Such work is similar to the work of a jeweler - the scales are very fragile, so the work is done with tweezers.

The main question that worries the audience is the origin of the material from which the paintings were created. There is no reason for environmentalists to worry about this - the wings of butterflies for the artist are sent from Asian farms, where butterflies are bred for sale. The butterflies have a short life, here those of them who did not manage to find buyers remain forever in the artist’s paintings. The exhibition features 34 unique paintings that amaze the imagination with their beauty.

In Izhevsk, the exhibition will run on October 24th, while there is still time to admire the miracle.
