The celebration of the 180th birthday of P.M. Tretyakova

MOSCOW. On December 27, the Tretyakov Gallery celebrated the birthday of the person to whom it owes its existence - Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov. Entrepreneur and philanthropist, a passionate admirer of high art, he forever went down in history as the founder of the Tretyakov Gallery. All of Russia owes this man the preservation of the magnificent works of painting, graphic art, sculpture, which he collected over the years of his life around the world.

180 years have passed since his birth. During this time, entire generations of Russians were replaced, the Russian Empire was destroyed, and then the superpower of the USSR. But the work of his whole life continues to live and bring light to the souls of every visitor who crosses the threshold of the gallery.

Many Russian artists, now known throughout the world, owe this patron the opportunity to create their works. However, art inspired him and always remained a significant reason for the continuation of life, the struggle.. The struggle is not for personal happiness, but for a better future for the whole people.

Therefore, the Charity Fund, created on his behalf, organized a memorable evening on his birthday. At which the ceremonial presentation of his biography, created by A.P. Botkina, took place. As well as awarding and honoring the most outstanding employees of the Tretyakov Gallery. And, of course, the performance of the Mariinsky Theater soloists, as well as the passionate performance of folk dances from the Birch ensemble, brightened the evening.

Museum employees invite all Muscovites who have not been part of the museum halls for a long time to remember that their city contains priceless works of art that the whole world admires!
