Unique portraits of famous people at the anniversary exhibition of Andrei Yesionov

MOSCOW. The Russian Academy of Arts invites you to visit a solo exhibition of works by the famous master of urban landscape and portraits of Andrei Yesionov, located in its halls. The exhibition, called "Moscow and Muscovites", will be open until January 27th. It is dedicated to the upcoming fiftieth anniversary of the artist.

The painter approached the selection of works intended for the exhibition seriously - the portrait gallery presented at the exhibition was painted by Andrei Yesionov over the last decade of his creative activity. Most of the characters depicted in the portraits of the artist’s brush are recognizable - these are people widely known in society.

Creating portraits, the artist, from a large number of prominent Russians, chose those people with whom he found spiritual closeness. The beginning of direct work on the portrait was preceded by lengthy preparation - full-scale sketches during meetings, lengthy conversations. Therefore, the images created on the portraits of Andrei Yesionov’s work are alive, they capture unique character traits inherent in this person.

The artist’s rich imagination made images painted with his brush, which stand out among similar works by other painters. Portraits of Yesionov’s work are not “ceremonial,” he doesn’t place the characters in an environment corresponding to their profession. Canvases with images of people painted by the artist are filled with symbolic details. They help to unite the personality of the person in the portrait with his profession.

The exhibition includes watercolors that recognize recognizable Moscow streets, alleys and courtyards painted from life. Generic scenes, organically included by the artist in the city landscape, add charm and authenticity to these watercolors.
