"Red and Black" by Yuri Kalyuta in the Zurab Tsereteli Art Gallery

MOSCOW. From February 5, Muscovites were given the opportunity to imbue the spirit of "Red and Black" performed by the famous artist Yuri Kalyuta. A feature of his work is a unique combination of the transformation of classical techniques dating back to the Imperial Academy of Arts, the degeneration of ancient images and their embodiment in a modern pictorial manner.

The work of Yuri Kalyuta, who became famous after the Beijing Biennale of Contemporary Art, held in 2003, is based on a carefully crafted personal manner of performance. Recognition of which is ensured by conscious limitation of the used palette and unlimited temperament escaping from under the brush of the master.

The plot side of the work is saturated with deep psychologism and imagery, the painting technique is characterized by strong, very wide strokes, applied with amazing accuracy. The color scheme is selected for each specific image and emphasizes its inner strength. Each work is distinguished by lively expression and retains the imprint of a somewhat mystical symbolism.

Yuri Kalyuta works in the genres of landscapes, portraits, genre compositions. His creative heritage, which began to form in 1989, is rich in diverse plots and originality of works. At the same time, the master considers his best students to be great artists of the past, such as Mikhail Vrubel, K.S. Petrova-Vodkin, Diego Velazquez.
