A unique exhibition from the Hermitage funds in the center "Hermitage-Kazan"

KAZAN. At the Hermitage-Kazan Exhibition Center on the evening of October 11, the grand opening of the exhibition of French impressionists took place. Exhibits for the exhibition delivered from State Hermitage Museum . The opening ceremony was attended by more than two hundred people, among whom were Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation V. Medinsky and General Director of the Hermitage M. Piotrovsky.

In his speech, V. Medinsky noted that such a large-scale exhibition is being held in the country for the first time, and also expressed gratitude to the Republic of Tatarstan for the state guarantee of the safety of the exhibits, since their commercial value is extremely high.

M. Piotrovsky said that one can speak not only about the uniqueness of this exhibition - it is a real sensation. Many of the works included in the exposition did not leave the capital’s museums before. Hermitage staff prepared it specifically for the Kazan exhibition center so that the story of the impressionists is presented in the context of 19th-century France.

The exhibition presents more than 150 works by famous masters from the collection of the State Hermitage. The main exhibits of the exhibition are paintings, however, it also included printed graphics made in France at the end of the 19th century. The exposition is supplemented with objects related to decorative and applied art, helping to understand how diverse the artistic phenomena in France of the Art Nouveau era were.

The names of the artists whose paintings are presented at the exhibition are impressive. Claude Monet, whose works are considered the best examples of impressionism, unusual “staircase” compositions by Auguste Renoir, who for the first time left the Hermitage.

The exhibition will run until the end of February.
