Exhibition "Jewel of the human soul. Icon painting miniature of Vladimir Tsybin"

The Mokhovaya-18 Gallery of Contemporary Art presents a unique Easter exhibition of the icon-painting miniature of St. Petersburg artist Vladimir Tsybin, which will be held from April 14 to 22, 2014.

Icon painting miniature is a mixture of classical, traditional iconography techniques and miniature writing techniques, which became famous in the late 18th century due to the development of Palekh and Fedoskino miniature schools. The uniqueness of this technique is in the finest drawing of prayer images and ornaments, which are often created with the help of a magnifying glass and thin brushes with several hairs. For a long time, icon-painting miniature was a forgotten technique and was revived only at the end of the 20th century.

The icons of Vladimir Tsybin, a restorer by education, who worked for many years in this capacity, are distinguished by recognizable color rendition, the use of complex, multi-level ornaments in combination with a traditional iconographic composition.

The exhibition will also include an exhibition of paintings on the festive Easter theme and a charity auction.
