An exhibition of one painting "IE Repin. Portrait of NB Nordman - Severova". To the 170th anniversary of the artist.

As part of the Artistic Chronograph - 2014 museum project, the main exposition of the Kaluga Regional Art Museum for residents and visitors of the city of Kaluga presents an exhibition of one painting, “I.E. Repin. Portrait of NB Nordman - North "to the 170th anniversary of the artist.

Ilya Efimovich Repin (1844-1930), a famous Russian artist, since 1878. - Member of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions. At the same time, he was a graduate of the Russian Academy of Arts (1864-1871), and was repeatedly awarded the Academy’s awards. From 1893 - professor of the Academy of Arts, from 1893. - Full member of the Academy of Arts, in 1899. - rector of the Academy of Arts. I.E. Repin is also the author of the famous memoirs “Far Close”. The artist was a great painter; all his artistic genres, including portraits, were accessible to his virtuoso brush.

In the collection of the Kaluga Regional Art Museum is a portrait of N. B. Nordman - North brush master. The work entered the museum in 1946. from the Committee on Arts under the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR.

Nadezhda Borisovna Nordman - Severova (1863-1914) (Severova - pseudonym) was born in 1863. in Finland in Helsingfors (Helsinki) in the family of a Russian admiral of Swedish descent and a Russian noblewoman. She received an excellent home education, knew several languages, played music, painted in oil and watercolor, and was engaged in literary work. In Russian literary life, she positioned herself as a writer.

I.E. Repin and N.B. Nordman - Severov met in the studio of the artist. She accompanied Princess M.K. Tenishev, the owner of the famous Talashkino, whose portrait was painted by Repin. According to the definition of V. Rozanov, “This woman swallowed Repin whole.” She became the second wife of the artist. In 1899 I.E. Repin acquires a small plot of land forty kilometers from St. Petersburg in Kuokkale, known to us today as the Penates, and gives it to NB Nordman - North. Now here is the popularly known museum of I.E. Repin. A wonderful park was created by the owners, a house and workshops were built, where many famous people of that time posed for the artist, and the owner of the estate organized her epic vegetarian dinners and creative living rooms, which were visited by F. Chaliapin, L. Andreev, M. Gorky, V. Bekhterev, A. Kuprin, V. Mayakovsky, S. Yesenin.

For visitors, the exhibition will run from April 08 to June 04, 2014.
