Personal exhibition of artist Vasily Shevchenko opened in Tver

TVER. On May 30, a presentation of the exhibition of Vasily Ivanovich Shevchenko, a famous Russian artist, was held at the Museum and Exhibition Center of the city. A unique talent allowed the painter to create an incredible world on his canvases, where amazing fantasies become reality.

The youth of Vasily Shevchenko passed in the war years. Having received a serious wound in the battles near Königsberg, he was treated for a long time and could not get a professional education. However, even while being in hospitals for a long time, the aspiring artist drew a lot. His drawings were not only portraits of people healing military wounds. These were themes born of a war that remained in the artist’s soul forever and imperiously, requiring reflection.

The secrets of pictorial art Vasily Shevchenko comprehended independently. During the time devoted to improving his skills, the artist created his own unique painting style, the basis of which was the plastic of the traditional "primitive art". The canvases, inhabited by unusual animals, goblin and mermaids, could not go unnoticed.

A considerable number of publications were devoted to the extraordinary personality of the Russian artist, documentaries were shot. Some critics considered the style of his writing to be ingenious, others did not accept, but there were no people indifferent to the artist’s work. Although V. Shevchenko waited for official recognition for a long time - he only became a member of the Union of Artists in 1991, his paintings can be seen in many museums.

After the death of V. Shevchenko, about two hundred of his works were donated by the artist’s widow to the Voronezh Museum. Kramskoy. In Voronezh, several exhibitions were held. Now residents of Tver will be able to get in touch with the artist’s work. The exhibition is open until June 29th.
