"Myths and metamorphoses" by Italian artist Francesca Leone Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. “Myths and metamorphoses” - under this name, in the mansion owned by the Russian Academy of Arts, an exhibition of works by Italian artist Francesca Leone has begun.
The Italian artist presents her works to the Russian public not for the first time. In 2009, Francesca Leone showed her paintings in Moscow at the Museum of Modern Art. After this exhibition, the artist became an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts. Over the years since the Moscow exhibition, Francesca Leone hosted solo exhibitions at prestigious exhibition centers in various countries.
The exhibition opened in St. Petersburg was one of the events carried out as part of the Year of Tourism of Russia and Italy. Its organizer was the publishing house Il Chinho GG. The exposition of the opening exhibition is composed of two series of paintings under the names - “Body-Earth” and “Faces”. With these works, the artist continued the series “Metamorphoses”, whose exhibitions successfully completed a tour of Latin America.
Among the artist’s new works presented at the exhibition are portraits of significant figures of the world ballet - Anna Pavlova and Rudolf Nuriev. From these works you can see how the artist’s creativity develops, how the form and structure in the plots she depicts change. Giancinto Di Pietrantonio, curator of the solo exhibition of Francesca Leone, noted the importance of the aesthetic search for the artist, using the artistic traditions of metamorphosis.
Francesca Leone is constantly experimenting in her work. Her canvases are made in various textures and techniques. To create them, the artist uses various materials - glue, bitumen, sand and sawdust. With their help, the silhouettes of the rocks turn into idealized portraits.
The exhibition is open on September 7th.
