Engravings of the great artist of the 16th century A. Durer at an exhibition in Belgorod

BELGOROD. Not all connoisseurs of painting managed to see a large-scale exhibition of works of art, which opened as part of the festival, dedicated to the memory of S. Kosenkov. However, employees of the Belgorod Museum prepared another unique exhibition, which cannot be missed. For the first time, the inhabitants of Belgorod will get acquainted with the work of a contemporary Leonardo da Vinci - the great Albrecht Dürer.

An exhibition of engravings created by the German artist A. Dürer is open in the hall of the art museum on October 2. The exposition consists of 23 works by the artist, made at the beginning of the 16th century. This unique collection was delivered to the Belgorod Museum from Kirov, where it has been stored since 1920 in the Museum of Art. Vasnetsovs. Engravings were transferred to the Vyatka Museum by the State Museum Fund.

Woodcuts engravings are rare works of great value - they contain the author’s monograms. A series of works by Albrecht Durer, called by the author of "Small Passion", represents the biography of Christ, created by the artist in the form of engravings.

It was A. Dürer who first began to sign the engravings he created, making it clear that for him these works are no less important than the paintings he wrote. Thanks to the great German artist, starting from the 16th century, engraving has become an independent form of fine art.

For the cultural life of Belgorod, the appearance in the art museum of an exhibition of engravings by A. Durer is a very significant event. In addition to the collection belonging to the museum.
