"Worlds of Evgeny Rastorguev" - an exhibition dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the artist

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Until April 19, the Nizhny Novgorod Exhibition Complex is waiting for visitors to the exhibition "Worlds of Evgeny Rastorguev", which opened at the end of last week. The creators of the exhibition dedicated it to the 95th anniversary of Evgeny Rastorguev, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

This outstanding artist had many talents, so he can not be called only a painter. Evgeny Anatolyevich was a sculptor, writer and poet, illustrated books. In his creative luggage there are several collections of poems and biographical sketches "Notes from Through the Looking Glass".

The cycle of paintings created by the artist, united under the name Gorodetsky Fantasies, brought Yevgeny Rastorguev fame in the art world. The artist began work on this cycle in the seventies.

Initially, these were small works, and then a whole series of paintings was written, the heroes of which were the inhabitants of a small central Russian town. Gorodets for Rastorguev was the city of his childhood, so the artist dreamed of a land with that name, where there is no place for villains, where cranks live, sweet to the heart of the artist.

The scenes of his picturesque "Gorodetsky fantasies" and the pastel cycle "Nothing at all" brought the author an honorable name. Fans of his work began to call the artist "Russian Chagall." In the works of Eugene Anatolyevich, you can also see naive images, simplicity and irony, characteristic of the works of world celebrity.

The exposition of the opened exhibition has collected 70 works by the artist, including works of painting and graphics. The number of graphic works included small pastels, called by the author "nothing at all." On them, Evgeni Rastorguev depicted everyday scenes from the life of residents of small towns located in the artist’s native land - the Nizhny Novgorod region.
