This event occurred in March 1915, when the staff of the museum, which at that time was called the city of art and history. The exhibition housed paintings, graphics and art photographs.

All exhibits presented at the opening exhibition were donated to the museum, since the museum did not have its own funds. Museum employees were happy with every admission to the museum fund. Works of art came from the authors, as well as from the residents of Ryazan, who appreciated art in all its forms. After some time, about a hundred exhibits were stored in the museum collection, among which were paintings, prints, sculptures.

The museum management decided that everything that was donated to the museum should be shown to its visitors. So the first exposition of artworks was created, housed in the walls of the museum to them. Pity With the opening of the anniversary exposition, museum staff gave their guests the opportunity to see what the museum looked like in the years when it first showed artworks.

“Open to the public” - has become an exhibition, the composition of the exposition is almost completely repeating the collection presented to museum visitors a century earlier. She was placed in the exhibition halls on the second floor of the museum. Some paintings of this collection are included in the permanent exhibition, so they remained in their places. The exposition includes works of various subjects, known and unknown authors.
