"Admission to the Union of Artists" - an exhibition that has become the finale of the competition of young artists, opened in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG. The exhibition, which opened on January 13 in the Exhibition Halls located on Bolshaya Morskaya Street, gathered a considerable number of visitors. Each of them wanted to see the final stage in the transformation of young artists starting their journey in art into professionals. According to ancient traditions, the name of the exhibition is invariably - “Admission to the Union of Artists”.

The display of works created by young artists is held annually, being both an exhibition and a competition, the winners of which become members of the Union of Artists of St. Petersburg. Today, this creative association has gathered in its ranks about four thousand artists, being one of the largest regional divisions of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation.

The competition begins long before the exhibition. Candidates submit their works to participate in it. Their work is evaluated by an exhibition consisting of eminent St. Petersburg artists. The right to participate in the exhibition usually get about a hundred young artists. So many participants presented this year’s selection of the best works at the opening exhibition. The works of all sections of fine art occupied the entire space of the exhibition halls. The first exhibition day, as always, began with welcome words to the exhibitors and its guests.

Then the board members of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists, headed by its chairman, Albert Charkin, went to inspect the exposition. The creativity of each of the young artists was discussed separately, and the decision to accept it in the Union of Artists was made by voting. Although most of the works are approved, the process of evaluating works always excites exhibitors.
