MOSCOW. Themed trains, whose wagons are decorated with poems, photographs and quotes from the works of great writers, have become a good tradition of the Moscow metro. So, on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, a new thematic composition was launched from the Filevskaya line of the Mezhdunarodnaya station, dedicated to the 100th birthday of the Mexican essayist-culturologist, poet, political journalist Octavio Paz, winner of the Nobel Prize in literature.
“Today we present to you a thematic train dedicated to Octavio Paz, the exposition is dedicated to the centenary of the poet’s birthday and the 125th anniversary of cooperation between Russia and Mexico,” Dmitry Pegov, the head of the Moscow metro, before the train was launched, said in a solemn speech. In turn, the Mexican ambassador to Russia, Ruben Beltran, added that this metro train will carry up to 40 thousand passengers daily, it will run on the Filevskaya line for six months.
The walls of the composition dedicated to the 100th birthday of the Mexican poet are framed by excerpts from Paz’s speech delivered at the Nobel Prize, fragments of essays and poems, as well as archival photographs. Note that this is the sixth poetic exposition in the Moscow metro: for four years of the project’s existence, guests and residents of the capital were able to get acquainted with the work of famous Italian, Colombian and Chilean poets and writers.
