The book on how to create Harry Potter, was published

Last weekend, a new work called “JK Rowling: A Bibliography” by Philippe Errington, head of the children’s literature department at Sotheby’s auction house, appeared on the shelves of UK bookstores. This autobiographical novel is dedicated to the life of Joan Rowling, when she worked on creating a series of books about the young wizard Harry Potter.

The events described in JK Rowling: A Bibliography cover the period from 1997 to 2013, when Rowling collaborated with Bloomsbury Academic. On the pages of the new book, the writer talks about the problems and conflicts with the editors and publishers that she had during the writing of Potteriana. In particular, fans of Joan’s work will learn that in the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, she had to significantly reduce the text. When she came to the publisher with the finished manuscript, he asked her to shorten the text and completely remove the song of the ghost of Almost Headless Nick. “For me it was a real blow. It’s like I rewrote the book, ”Rowling said in Errington’s book.

Also, from JK Rowling: A Bibliography, fans first learned that the fourth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, could be released under a completely different name. So, the publishers suggested that Rowling change the name to Harry Potter and the Death Eaters or Harry Potter and the Three Champions, but the writer still defended her position and the book came out under the name that we know. Joan also published correspondence with editors, several scandalous interviews with publishers, and various archival materials.

The book went on sale in the UK in English. According to Phillip Errington, “JK Rowling: A Bibliography” will allow Potteriana fans to look at Joan Rowling’s “original cuisine” and then take a fresh look at their favorite works.
