The names of the Pulitzer Prize winners became known

NEW YORK. According to the statement of the organizing committee, posted on the official website of the award, the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, awarded annually for achievements in literature, journalism, drama and non-fiction, was Anthony Dorr with his recently released, but already sensational novel, "All Unseen to Us." The work tells the story of a German boy and a French girl during the Second World War, their desire to survive at that terrible time and an unconscious movement towards each other.

The winner in the drama genre was a black comedy about the story of the eviction of one retired police officer from his own home - the play “Between Riverside and Crazy” by Stephen Adli Girdzis.

In the category of historical works, Elizabeth A. Fenn received the award for her book Meetings in the Heart of the World: A History of the Mandan Tribe, in which the author spoke about the Mandan Indian tribe living in Dakota. The winner in the Biography nomination was David Ketzer with the book Papa and Mussolini: The Secret History of Pius XI and the Rise of Fascism in Europe. The book, in which the author used only recently made available archival documents from the Vatican, is built on the principle of a double biography.

In the Poetry category, Gregory Pardlo received an award for his four poetry collections, which, according to the jury, reflect the "pure and thoughtful voice of a 21st-century man." In the nomination "For service to society", which in the USA among journalists is considered the most prestigious, the winner was the newspaper The Post and Courierre from Charleston, South Carolina. The newspaper’s team received an award for “Until Death Do Us Part” about high violent mortality in the state. The New York Times and The Seattle Times have also received awards in this category. Their materials and the sensational Ebola fever and a huge landslide, after which 43 people died, did not go unnoticed by society.

The Pulitzer Prize, founded in 1903 in honor of the newspaper magnate of Hungarian-Jewish origin Joseph Pulitzer, is awarded annually in the United States for its merits in literature and journalism. The size of the award for each winner is 10 thousand dollars. In different years, the Pulitzer Prize was awarded to such famous writers as Margaret Mitchell, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Saul Bellou, John Steinbeck and others.
