A unique exhibition of children’s books opened in Voronezh

VORONEZH. A unique exhibition entitled “A paper boat named a book…” dedicated to children’s works of the 19th-20th centuries opened in the rare books department of the Zone Scientific Library of Voronezh State University.

The earliest edition of the exhibition is the book of the famous German children’s writer and teacher G. Kampe “An invaluable gift for well-educated children, or a new children’s library…”. The publication was printed in Moscow in 1803. In the series "Library of children’s reading" special attention is paid to the story of the children’s writer N. A. Soloviev-Nemtsov, published in Moscow in 1902. The unique design and rich content differs from other exhibits of the exhibition by the children’s storybook “Good morning!” Compiled by E.M. Chistyakova-Ver "according to English and American writers."

The organizers of the exhibition dedicated a separate section to the works published in the 20s of the XX century. Here is Mark Twain’s historical novel “The Prince and the Pauper,” printed in 1924 at the Volga Book Publishing House in Berlin, and Stories for Children, published by Alexander Kuprin in 1921 at the Russian Book Publishing House North in Paris, and Glorious Sevastopol Defense ”by Claudius Lukashevich (Vienna, 1922) and many other books. Also, as part of the exhibition of unique children’s books, library workers themselves organized another separate section called “My Worlds Are Collected in My Apartment”, which presents children’s works from the personal libraries of employees.

The exhibition will run until May 5, 2015.
