The name of the winner of the award "National Best-2015"

MOSCOW. Yesterday, June 7, in the winter garden of the Astoria Hotel, a ceremony was held to announce the name of the winner of the 15th season of the National Bestseller literary prize. He was the writer Sergei Nosov with his novel “Braces”. It is worth noting that even at the shortlist stage, Nosov was predicted to win the competition.

The genre of the novel “Braces” can be attributed to the mystical. The main character accidentally gets to the congress of illusionists, held in St. Petersburg. There, he helps his girlfriend investigate the cause of the mysterious death of her husband. If we discard all the plot interweaving, it becomes clear that this is a work about love and how circumstances help to open the braces that bind us from the inside. The novel was published by Limbus Press in 2015.

In addition to Nosov, among the finalists were Anna Matveeva with a collection of short stories “Nineties”, Oleg Kashin with an essay book “Gorbi-dream”, Vasily Avchenko with the documentary “Crystal in a transparent frame”, Alexander Snegirev and his novel “Faith”, and also Tatyana Moskvina with the autobiographical novel Life of a Soviet Girl.

The small jury of the award included mostly “dedicated readers” - people who do not directly have a professional relationship with literary work, but who love reading in their free time: actor Efim Shifrin, TV presenter Alla Mikheeva, surgeon Sergey Yashin, musician Vadim Stepantsov, writer Ksenia Buksha (last year’s prize winner) and Vladimir Shinkarev, ideologist of the Mitki art group.
