The first stage of the Alexander Nevsky Prize has ended

ST. PETERSBURG. The announcement of the completion of the acceptance of literary works to participate in the competition of the All-Russian Historical and Literary Prize "Alexander Nevsky" was announced by the organizing committee yesterday, July 9, at a press conference. In a month, the jury of the award will announce the names of the contestants who will be included in the short list of nominees for a high creative award.

The organizers of the award said that in total this year more than two hundred literary works and historical studies were sent to participate in the competition, which mainly covered the historical reality of the Russian State. In particular, in most of the works presented, the emphasis is on the stories of the Great Patriotic War, this year the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory is celebrated in Russia. It is noteworthy that the books were presented to the expert council, as were the debutants of such a difficult genre as a historical novel, as well as venerable creators of the word, and recognized historians.

After analyzing the literature sent to the competition, the expert committee immediately identified two important aspects. The first is works about the Second World War. Among the books submitted to the competition, literary critics especially noted historical diaries compiled by the publishing house “Arguments and Facts” under the title “Children’s Book of War. Diaries 1941-1945. "

The second important event is the holding of the Year of Literature in Russia, and therefore, works on the life and work of the great Russian writers Joseph Brodsky, Boris Pasternak, Ivan Bunin and others will be nominated for a historical and literary award. The competition will also involve local history research conducted by entire communities of historians and scientists. In addition, works written by unprofessional authors about their ancestors were accepted to participate in the competition.

At the end of summer, the prize organizing committee will announce a short list of nominees, which will include only nine laureates. The winners of the competition will be announced in September, the first three finalists will be awarded in St. Petersburg.
