Roald Dahl’s book leads the bestseller list

LONDON. In the British literary ranking, Roald Dahl’s book comes first.

Thirty-odd thousand copies of the Great Mouse Plot sold in a week were finally enough to make the composition of the great Roald Dahl appear at the top of the UK’s hit parade. In 2005, Roald Dahl’s Incredible Chocolate Box slowed down in second place, losing to Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code. In 2016, a chapter from the autobiographical narrative “Boy. Tales of childhood ”(Boy: Tales of Childhood) crowded out the closest competitors. The event in the year of the 100th anniversary of the writer is quite symbolic.

The incredible stories of Roald Dahl are known even to those who do not pick up books. The heroes of Burton’s movie about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a Christmas horror movie about cute Gremlins, are a figment of the imagination of this English writer with Norwegian roots. As well as dozens of stories for children and adults, densely peppered with black humor and introducing into a stupor an unpredictable ending. Novels about the womanizer and spider collector Uncle Oswald (My Uncle Oswald), supergirl Matilda (Matilda), the good giant (The BFG). The latter was created in memory of a young daughter who died of measles. He urged parents not to risk the lives of their children and not to refuse vaccinations.

The acquisition of any of Roald Dahl’s books guarantees not only intellectual pleasure, but also gives a chance to save someone’s life.
