How to write your first novel? A quick guide for the aspiring writer

Spending time at home, people actively begin to master new professions. The computer and the Internet make it possible to work from home in many specialties - for example, a programmer, designer, copywriter. Some of the more romantic natures return to childhood dreams and find it possible to start writing books to become great writers. It’s good to decide, but where to start is not clear. This article has provided a few steps to help future writers get started with their first creation.

1. It is necessary to determine the theme of the work. And although the task seems daunting, it is not as difficult as it seems. Great writers used experience, stories of friends and relatives for their works, described their contemporaries and raised urgent problems of society. Every person has all this, they just often don’t think about it. A few hours in silence, alone with your thoughts and stream of consciousness, will allow you to concentrate and bring all this information to the surface. The main thing is to stock up on paper and a pen or some kind of electronic device in order to have time to fix everything.

2. You should try to read as much as possible. Well-known writers and critics say that the best school is not a literary institute or courses, but rather independent work on the works of the “greats”. You should read as much as possible, analyze the style, topics, techniques - squeeze the maximum out of the books. After some time, it will become clear that several specific directions are of the greatest interest - this style should be remembered and started to be used in your works, it is “yours”.

3. Start writing. Anything, anything that comes to mind. But it is important to do and do it every day. For some reason, it is often believed that writers just sit and wait for inspiration most of the time, and then write brilliant works in a few months. But in reality, writing is hard work. Many writers regard it as work - they sit down at the table every day and do not leave from behind it until they have written a certain number of pages. So you should follow the advice of the greats and introduce the habit of daily writing.

4. After daily practice, determining the theme and style, it is worth starting to create a work. There are two possible approaches - either make a plan for the future novel and start following it, or just start developing a key theme and "wind" chapters around it like a ball. Each writer works differently - evaluate which option works best for you and use it.

5. While writing the novel, introduce daily rituals to help you not give up and finish the novel to the end. You can allocate a certain time interval for writing, create a special music playlist, allocate a special "corner" for creativity. Some write after a walk, others before breakfast or while exercising on a treadmill. The main thing is that the brain connects these actions with each other and starts working on the creation of the work and helping you every day.

6. Towards the end of the work on the novel, you should think about such important issues as the editor and publishing. It is better not to invest heavily in the first work and opt for friends - readers who are fluent in Russian and samizdat, where they are ready to accept any work and help promote it. But it is very important to find those who can appreciate your novel and give practical advice. You should also define your audience and try to create for it.

Many people dream of becoming writers, but not everyone has the courage and diligence to start writing a work, much less finish it. Not every novel becomes popular, but some still “shoot” and are talked about by many.
