Tour of the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra in the New World

HAVANA. The first tours of the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra in Cuba and Mexico took place.

As part of a tour of the New World, the Mariinsky Theater first visited Cuba and Mexico. Liberty Island was remembered by the musicians for standing ovations and an enthusiastic reception of each program number. The tour of the Russian team of a similar level in the capital of the island state is a rare and long-awaited phenomenon. From the stage of the National Theater sounded the works of Grieg, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Mahler. The brilliant pianist Daniil Trifonov and trumpet virtuoso Timur Martynov were soloists, demonstrating the highest level of performing skills.

Triumphal can be called the first tour of the orchestra in Mexico, which took place a few days earlier. In addition to four concerts at which the compositions of Borodin, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky were performed, a meeting of maestro Gergiev and the Esperanza Azteca orchestra took place. Fans of the classics, who were not able to get to the performances of musicians from St. Petersburg, were able to see them thanks to the online broadcast. The overseas Mariinsky tour, which began in the United States, will end on March 12 in Chile.
