Harmony of music and words at the Sheremetev Musical Assemblies

BELGOROD. The festival "Sheremetev Musical Assemblies" has opened.

The festival “Sheremetev Musical Assemblies” owes much to its creation in the Belgorod Region of the Foundation for the Development of Classical Musical Art. The support of patrons made it possible to revive the tradition of noble ball gatherings in a modern format. The first assembly was held in the year of the bicentennial of the triumphal victory of the Russian army in the war of 1812, on which Pyotr Petrovich Sheremetev, a descendant of the famous count family, who was invited to the opening of the new festival, congratulated. His arrival and participation in the event became a symbolic link connecting the glorious past and the present day. Thanks to the Sheremetevs, the Singing Chapel, the serf theater, and the icon painting workshop appeared in the 18th century. Talented young musicians were given the opportunity to study in Italy. After the October Revolution and the arrest of Pyotr Sergeyevich Sheremetev, Pyotr Petrovich’s grandfather, the family was forced to emigrate to France, after which she moved to Morocco. Despite the sad circumstances of the past, a talented architect, rector of the Paris Conservatory. Rachmaninov Pyotr Petrovich Sheremetev did a lot to strengthen friendship between Russia and France, revive traditions, restore historical monuments.

The Yesenin theme dominated the third assembly, and the art and literature of the 19th century dominated the fourth. V festival is dedicated to the Silver Age. At the opening, November 18, accompanied by an orchestra conducted by R. Nigamatullin, pianist Nikolai Lugansky performed. The monumental and tragic Concert No. 2 and the Scythian Suite by Sergei Prokofiev were voiced. In the second section, the chamber choir of the Philharmonic, singer Vladimir Celebrovsky and the symphony orchestra presented the cantata "Spring" of Sergei Rachmaninov to the public.

On November 22, Belgorod residents saw the literary and musical performance “You Do Not Become Remember”, dedicated to the poetry of the Silver Age, verses by Tsvetaeva, Blok, Akhmatova, Pasternak. The acting talent of Valery Barinov and Olga Kabo and the piercing viola of Matvey Kostolevsky helped create an amazing atmosphere of unity of great poetry and beautiful music.
