Theater festival in Saratov is dedicated to the memory of Oleg Yankovsky

In the evening, November 6, the Saratov Drama Theater with a performance by the Theater of Nations “Caligula” opened the second theater festival dedicated to the memory of Oleg Yankovsky, whose career began on the stage, which is now hosting participants and guests of festival performances. The main role in the play was played by Yevgeny Mironov, for whom Saratov is his hometown.

Before the start of the performance, the audience was shown a video with a selection of photographs from the performances of the Saratov drama with the participation of Oleg Yankovsky. Then the video, shot last year at the first festival, immersed the audience in its atmosphere. The speech of the Minister of Culture Svetlana Krasnoshchekova showed the significance of the festival for the theater world. Alexander Zbruyev and Inna Churikova, his colleagues from the Lenkom Theater, shared their memories of Oleg Yankovsky.

An exhibition of photographs “Oleg Yankovsky. The last meeting ”, the work of journalist Yuri Nabatov. You can also get acquainted with materials telling about the eight-year work of the artist in the Saratov Drama Theater. During the festival days, performances of six well-known theaters from Moscow, Yaroslavl and, of course, the Saratov drama, which will show its first work - the play "Crazy Money", staged by people’s artist Alexander Kuzin, will be shown.

Although the direction of the festival is theatrical, films in which the main roles are performed by Oleg Yankovsky will not remain aloof. Within the framework of the festival, the project “Cinema Night” will be held, in which films by director Roman Balayan with the participation of Yankovsky will be presented. At the end of the festival, Oleg Tabakov, according to his tradition, will conduct a selection among gifted children for a theater college working at the Tabakerka Theater.
