MOSCOW. In the children’s theater to them. Natalia Sats On May 31, the premiere of the opera performance “Carmen”, staged by director Georgy Isahakyan especially for viewers who are just starting to get involved in classical opera, will take place. Traditionally, operas are performed in the language of the original version, which often for an unprepared viewer becomes a serious barrier to understanding the plot of an opera performance.

The feelings and feelings of the heroes elude such viewers, and a brief libretto in the performance program can give only a brief description of what is happening on the stage. The performance “Carmen”, to which the public will come on March 31, will give any viewer the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in the world where the characters of the opera Georges Bizet live. The entire performance will be performed in Russian.

The same performance, but in French, the theater already presented during its tour in Ireland, where it was highly praised by theater critics. Moscow students and schoolchildren saw the performance before the tour, but the students of those educational institutions where teaching was conducted in French were invited to it.

The opera "Carmen" in Russian is currently the only one among its versions in the capital. According to the director, the appearance of this performance in the repertoire is not accidental. Since high school students include Merimee’s work in the school curriculum, the opportunity to see a classical opera based on this short story fulfills the task assigned to the theater - the unification of education and culture.

The design of the performance is a complement to this task. The staging of the production was based on the painting of Pablo Picasso dedicated to Spain. This was obtained permission from the fund of the artist. A new translation of the libretto has been created for the premiere.
