The play "Elinor and her men" ends the festival "Vasara-2013"

DRUSKININKAY. At the end of the program of performances shown at the international festival “Vasara-2013”, held in the famous resort town of Lithuania Druskininkai, on the evening of August 9, viewers will see the play “Elinor and her men” from the repertoire of the Theater of the Russian Army, with Lyudmila Chursina, who plays the main role.

The play was staged by director Alexander Bourdonsky based on the famous play “The Lion in Winter”, written by American playwright James Goldman. The play was based on real events that took place in England in 1181. All the events of the play take place during the day, when the disgraced Queen Elinor returns to the castle from captivity. Her presence is necessary to decide on the succession to the throne.

During the time the performance takes place, the audience will see a bewitching story, with a plot similar to a detective story. There is a struggle for power in it, and love combined with hatred, loyalty and betrayal. The performance is full of brilliant dialogues and irony, passions, however, by the will of the director, he turns into a tragedy. The magnificent acting work of Lyudmila Chursina became her unconditional success, the performance is always enthusiastically accepted by the public.

The play "Elinor and Her Men" will be the last festival production presented by a professional theater group. Further, the public will see diploma works by students of various theater universities, and on August 11, at the closing ceremony of the festival program, the jury will name the winners in the competition program in all nominations.

According to the chairman of the jury, Alexei Bartashevich, the festival, whose theme is “Classics and the 21st Century,” plays an important role in restoring the ties that have long existed between the cultures of Russia and Lithuania.
