The concert of the Moscow Synodal Choir in Mogilev was a great success

In Mogilev, the performance of the famous Moscow Synodal Choir, which opened the Days of the Spiritual Culture of Russia in Belarus, was held with great success.

The concert of the famous collective was held on October 29 at the Palace of Culture of the Mogilev region. Belarusian fans of sacred music got a unique opportunity to hear the chants of the All-Night Vigil S.V. Rachmaninov and the Liturgy of P. I. Tchaikovsky, the famous chant - “From my youth”, as well as the works of secular composers: Chesnokov, Sviridov, Bortnyansky and others. Choral singing, truly emotionally filled and sending to the very sources of Slavic spirituality, caused a flurry applause from the public.

The Moscow Synodal Choir - one of the oldest professional choirs in Russia, has existed since the 16th century. Initially, only male singers were part of the choir of singing deacons. After a while, the choir was one of the first to master the linear notation and part singing (“singing in parts” of polyphonic scores) that came from the West, and therefore children’s voices appeared in its composition. In recent years, having accepted the obedience of the regent of the revived choir of the Sorrow Church, Alexey Puzakov was able to combine the creative efforts of 80 singers. The main goal of the choir is the preservation and development of the best traditions of liturgical church singing in Moscow churches and beyond.

Days of the Spiritual Culture of Russia in Belarus is a large-scale project of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, which includes performances by leading Russian creative groups, exhibitions and joint events with the participation of the creative intelligentsia of the two countries, aimed at strengthening good-neighborly relations, returning to the spiritual sources, Slavic community of the two peoples.

Events of the Days of the Spiritual Culture of Russia in Belarus, whether performing secular or church music, focus on what unites our peoples, actualizes a common historical memory, ”commented the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky on the project.
