The anniversary of the play "We Play Bidstrup" celebrated in the theater "Samara Square"

SAMARA. The most devoted spectators of the Samarskaya Square Theater on April 20 celebrated the anniversary of the play “We Play Bidstrup”. It was first shown in 1989. 25 years have passed since the premiere. Over the years, the performance has become a cult for fans of the theater. This performance is particularly interesting because it was not based on a literary basis, as is usually done.

“We Play Bidstrup” is the animated drawings of the most famous Danish cartoonist Herluf Bidstrup. Many of the artist’s miniatures, supplemented by musical accompaniment, turned the talent of directors Vladimir Chernyaev and Evgeny Drobyshev into an amazing performance, the genre of which was defined as a plastic clownery. The performance is accompanied by music written by composer from Italy Nina Rota.

The performance was conceived by Vladimir Chernyaev at a time when Samarskaya Square had the status of a theater studio. The director taught the actors the art of pantomime and, in the process of studying, he had the idea of creating this unique performance. Over the 25 years that have passed since the premiere, many spectators managed to see and love the performance.

Now the first spectators bring their children to the theater so that they can also see this wonderful performance. The cast has noticeably changed the cast, but Natalya Nosova, the premiere participant, still plays. Only two years less Vladimir Lorkin takes part in the performance, and Mikhail Akayemov also celebrates his anniversary - 20 years on the stage in the production of "Playing Bidstrup."

"Samara Square" often shows the performance on tours and theater festivals, where it is always enthusiastically received by the audience. The production was especially warmly received in the author’s homeland, in Denmark. Bidstrup’s colleagues praised the skill of Russian actors.
