Volkovsky festival opened with the Russian premiere of the play "War"

YAROSLAVL. The grandiose staging of the Russian director Vladimir Pankov “War” in the Theater. Volkov opened the most prestigious international festival in Russia - Volkovsky. His world premiere took place at the Theater Festival in Edinburgh. Russian viewers saw the "War" for the first time.

The director devoted his work to the centenary of the First World War. The basis of the project was the plot of the works of Homer, Aldington and Gumilyov. Artists such as Evgenia Simonova, Elena Shanina and Valery Garkalin are engaged in the performance. The remaining participants are actors of the SounDrama Studio theater.

Before the start of the performance, the opening ceremony of the Volkov Festival took place. At it Prizes were awarded to them. Volkov from the Government of the Russian Federation. High awards were presented to the Ryazan Regional Puppet Theater, Perm Youth Theater and Mikhail Bychkov, director of the Voronezh Chamber Theater.

At a press conference, Olga Nikiforova, artistic director of the Volkovsky Theater, announced that theaters from seven countries came to Yaroslavl this year. In the festival poster, each spectator will be able to find a performance designed specifically for him.

For the first time, an opera performance will be shown at the Volkov Festival. The opera Faust will be presented by the Novosibirsk Theater. In total, during the festival, for eleven days, spectators will see 18 performances.

Each work is interesting in its own way, however, for theatergoers who are interested in a new approach to classical drama, the play "The Seagull" directed by Oskaras Korshunovas will be interesting. He was brought to the festival by the Theater from Vilnius.

Artists from the National Theater from Hungary will show a performance dedicated to Vladimir Vysotsky. Its basis was the famous book of memoirs written by Marina Vladi. The festival will end with the performance of “Romeo and Juliet” Volkovsky Theater.
