In the MDT them. Pushkin celebrated the centenary of the Chamber Theater with a dedication performance

MOSCOW. The play, written by contemporary playwright Elena Gremina, in a stage reading by Evgeny Pisarev, artistic director of the theater. Pushkin, the centennial of the Chamber Theater was celebrated. The performance, shown to the public on December 25, its creators gave the name - “Chamber Theater. 100 years". The production, which paid tribute to the founder of the Chamber Theater A. Tairov and the muse of the director Alice Koonen, tells about people who linked their fates with the history of the Chamber.

This team worked only 35 theatrical seasons, but left an obvious mark in the theatrical world. His work was noted by well-known cultural figures who gave enthusiastic reviews to the performances staged on his stage. The director surprised the audience with every premiere. However, the success of the theater did not prevent its closure. In an order issued in 1949, it was written that the theater was closed for "aesthetics and formalism" reigning on its stage.

The Tairov Theater was replaced by the MDT named after Pushkin. Director Evgeny Pisarev in honor of the anniversary of the Chamber Theater decided to remind theatergoers of an unusual troupe that worked on the stage, where artists from the Moscow Theater of Music now play Pushkin. Elena Gremina created the play using only documentary materials - letters, memoirs, documents.

The director staged the play as a series of episodes dedicated to certain events in the life of the theater, and between them inserted fragments of performances from the Chamber’s repertoire. Almost the entire troupe of the theater takes part in the performance. In the final of the premiere, under a long applause of the audience, Yevgeny Pisarev brought to the stage all who participated in the creation of the dedication of the Tairov Theater. Even those whom spectators practically do not see — make-up artists and dressers — came to bow to the applauding audience.
