The winners of the film festival "2morrow / Tomorrow" are determined

MOSCOW. On the evening of January 25, 2015, the closing ceremony of the 8th International Festival of Contemporary Independent Cinema 2morrow / Tomorrow took place in the concert hall of the Domozhilov club. The main winner of this year’s festival was the film “Miracles” by Italian director Alice Rohrwacher. The picture had previously been awarded the Grand Prize of the jury of the Cannes Film Festival.

According to one of the members of the jury, the German film critic Ronald Rast, the decision of the judiciary was unanimous, they opted for a tape that everyone would understand. The film director was not present at the ceremony, but she was contacted by phone and informed about the Grand Prix won. Alice regretted that she could not attend the event, as she was at the Rotterdam Film Festival, and thanked the organizers and the jury for such a valuable award.

The film “Sand Dollars” by Laura Amelia Guzman and Israel Cardenas received a prize for the best sound. The awards for the best screenplay and the best image were received by the Indian film "Court" directed by Chaitanya Tamgani. The debut film of young French directors Samuel Teysa, Marie Amashuker and Claire Burger “Party Girl” was awarded the prize for the best acting ensemble. The film was previously awarded the Golden Camera Award in Cannes.

The special jury prize was awarded to actress Dana Igvey, who played one of the main roles in the film “Next to Her” by Israeli director Asaf Korman. This year, the contestants were evaluated by a jury composed of German film critic Ronald Rast, film director Bakur Bakuradze, actresses Yulia Aug and Daria Ekamasova, as well as screenwriter Lyubov Mulmenko.

The “2morrow / Tomorrow” festival this year was held under the special attention of the audience - for many sessions, tickets were sorted out long before the shows. “The main achievement is that we really have full halls - we went to this, and now the full halls applaud after each film,” said Olga Dykhovichnaya, the head of the show.

The non-competitive film forum programs hosted the Russian premieres of the films “Dove sat on a branch thinking about life” by Roy Anderson, who won the Venice Film Festival, the detective mini-series “Little Kenken” directed by Bruno Dumont, the director’s version of “Nymphomaniac” by Lars von Triere "Lava Diaz, the film" The Tribe "of the Ukrainian director Miroslav Slaboshpitsky and the work" Force Majeure "by Ruben Ostlund.

Also, as part of the festival, based on the 2morrow FilmSchool film school, master classes were held by young Russian directors Zhora Kryzhovnikova, Natalya Meshchaninova, Oksana Bychkova, Anna Melikyan and Nigina Sayfullaeva.

The international festival of modern independent cinema “2morrow / Tomorrow” was held from January 20 to 25, screenings as part of competitive and out-of-competition programs were held at the Museum of Moscow and the Documentary Film Center.
