The participants of the documentary films contest of the 37th MIFF are announced

MOSCOW. The participants in the documentary film contest, which will be shown from June 19 to 26 as part of the 37th Moscow International Film Festival, became known. The documentary forum, which has long been the most visited at the festival, is overseen by director, State Prize laureate Sergei Miroshnichenko and producer Grigory Libergal this year.

As part of the competition documentary program taking place at the Moscow International Film Festival for the fifth time, the most interesting documentary films of the world will be presented to viewers. It is worth noting that the films that participated in the competition in past years later became laureates of various prestigious awards, including the Oscars and Bafts, and also went out and received high ratings from viewers, both in Russia and in to the whole world.

So, this year the competition program of documentaries consists of the films: “The Land of Punishers” directed by Matthew Heineman and Matt Porvoll (USA, Mexico), “Young Patriot” directed by Du Haibin (China, France), “Coming” by Michael Madsen (Austria, Finland, Denmark), Rodney Asher’s “Nightmare” (USA), “Ecstasy Wilco” by Julian Temple (Great Britain), “Extinction Race” by Louis Saykhoyosa (USA). Russia in the competition of documentaries is represented by the film directed by Elena Laskari "Larisina Artel".

The jury of the documentary program, chaired by the head of the Cinephil distribution company Philip Kowarski (Israel), included Russian director, member of the Non-Fiction Film Guild Alexei Vakhrushev and director of the Yerevan Golden Apricot International Film Festival Harutyun Khachatryan.

Screenings will traditionally be held in the October multiplex, reruns will take place at the Documentary Film Center, which for the third year has been providing its platform not only for viewing films, but also for meetings and discussions with documentary film directors, the jury and guests of the festival. The winners of the documentary contest, as well as the audience competition will be announced on June 28 at the Central House of Artists.
