Together with Trier from tragedy to rebirth. Understand and forgive

STOCKHOLM. The winner of the 26th international film festival was the Norwegian tape “Louder than Bombs”

The prestigious Swedish film forum this year turned 25 years old. About two hundred films took part in the competition. The heavy bronze horse due for first place went to Joachim Trier of Denmark for the movie Louder Than Bombs. Having moved to the country of fjords, he considers himself rather a Norwegian. The famous surname Joakim (Lars is a distant relative) was not shamed. His first film, Reprise, received many awards at international film festivals. In November, “Louder Than Bombs” will be released in Russia. The first meeting with Trier’s new film took place at the October festival of Norwegian films. Along with the “Blind” Eskil Vogt, she was one of the favorites of the film forum.

The success of the picture is the sum of many terms. Strong casting, excellent dialogue (Trier prefers to write scripts himself), innovative editing by Olivier Bugge Coutté, non-trivial and multi-layered plot. The death of military photographer Isabelle in a car accident dramatically changes the life of her family, leading to disconnection, emotional upheaval, and tragic discoveries. Sniper accurate selection of performers for each role. The virtuoso Hupper brought in the ambiguity and mystery that are so adequate in this dramatic story. Great acting by Gabriel Byrne, Jesse Eisenberg and debutant Conrad-Devin Druid, who worked on the film with a huge, almost sacrificial dedication. Louder Than Bombs is an unexpected lesson on how to survive the loss. The tragedy and the pain inevitably following it for Trier is not fatality, leading to complete decay, but a step towards light and rebirth.
