An exhibition of masterpieces from the National Picasso Museum in Paris opened in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Department of Cultural Heritage’s Cultural Heritage Museum (LCSD) has opened the Picasso - Masterpieces from the Picasso Museum, Paris exhibition. This exhibition has become one of the cultural events to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the creation of a special administrative region in Hong Kong.

The Picasso masterpiece exhibition is organized jointly by LCSD and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, as well as with the participation of the Hong Kong Historical Museum and the National Picasso Museum in Paris. It will be held from May 19 to July 22 at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. The exhibition is also one of the most striking events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Le French May, in which LCSD is one of the main partners.

An LCSD spokesperson said: “We are proud to present this magnificent exhibition in Hong Kong. The exhibition will feature 55 original works by Picasso, covering every stage of Picasso’s prolific career - its blue, pink, primitive, cubic, neoclassical stages and the period of expressionism. ” In addition to demonstrating the masterpieces of the famous artist, the exhibition will also feature about 50 photographs and four documentaries. These materials will greatly enhance the understanding of Picasso and his art by the people of Hong Kong.

“This will be the most comprehensive exhibition of Picasso’s work ever held in Hong Kong, and we expect it to become a center of cultural and social life for Hong Kong residents and its guests,” the representative of the organizers added. Due to disabilities in the gallery and due to the short exhibition period, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum will extend opening hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The museum will be closed, as usual, on Tuesdays.
