Three unusual exhibitions of exceptional artists in Ontario

Three stellar exhibitions by prominent Canadian and one European artists will be held this summer at the Art Gallery of Hamilton in Ontario. According to gallery director Louise Dompierre: “Hamilton’s art gallery presents a number of this summer’s novelties: a rare Ontario solo exhibition by leading Canadian contemporary sculptor Valérie Blass, works by European artist Anselm Kiefer, never brought earlier in Ontario, and the first in 25 years to exhibit in Hamilton paintings by Emily Carr. The variety and bold vision inherent in each of the exhibitions reflects the dynamism of our gallery. I hope our viewers find food for thought here. ”

Until September 23, 2012, the first solo exhibition of the famous Canadian sculptor Valerie Blass will be presented, consisting of eighteen works. Using almost all of the sculptural techniques, from casting, forging, carving and design modeling to briquette, Blass explores the area of communication between animals, humans and inanimate objects, creating strange, hybrid objects.

Until October 28, 2012, an exhibition will be open, representing more than 38 masterpieces of Emily Carr. In its coastal landscapes of the western coast of Canada, nature and spirit reign as two components of a single whole, and the sculptural and artistic heritage of the peoples of North America documented in her works amazes with its beauty and diversity. At the exhibition, you can see her works of different periods, from early experiments with European modernism, to post-impressionism.

Until September 9, 2012, the first exhibition in Canada by Anselm Kiefer, rightfully considered one of the leading European artists in the last four decades, will be held. Kiefer is known worldwide for its voluminous, textured paintings, in which the symbolic meaning is reflected with the help of text, numbers and various natural materials.
