September 22 and 23 Science Fest 2018 in St. Petersburg - an immersion in the world of science and technology

For two days, St. Petersburg will become a territory of innovation - scientists and developers, engineers, designers and entrepreneurs will exchange scientific knowledge and experience. Artificial intelligence, neural interfaces, space, drones and drones, robotics, VR / AR, Science and media art, blockchain are the main topics of the festival. Among the speakers are representatives from Canada, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands, Norway. One of the headliners will be:

• Joseph Brown is an assistant professor, head of the Artificial Intelligence Lab in game development.

Daytime and evening programs will be held at Planetarium 1, Lumiere Hall, YOTA LAB, ITMO and Polytechnic Universities, the Optics Museum, the Cosmonautics Museum, Lenpolygraphmash, Annenkirche and the Russian Railways Museum.

Festival program:

Art: September 20, the festival starts in the Media Center of the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater - there will be a pre-display of new works by invited media artists “Level of Detail”.

The Planetarium 1 will host screenings of science films, the movie night of the Back to the Future trilogy, as well as the immersive show of the Hamburg planetarium and the full-dome show from the French media artist MAOTIK. Another author’s full-dome generative presentation will be presented by the creative association of the MIF. The team is engaged in several areas: generative graphics, 3d mapping, light-dynamic installations and projection design.

During the show, Science Fest guests will be able to see live full-domed media performance visualizing live music. The show is based on generative graphics technology, implemented with the help of rare software.

In addition, on September 20, as part of the Science Fest on the second floor of Planetarium 1, the personal exhibition of the Doping-Pong art group - “Doping-Pong Space” will open. The exhibition will present both the early work of Doping-Pong - digital art of the late 90s and early zero years, as well as the latest works in the style of new Russian romanticism. 23 works by an art group will demonstrate the creativity of St. Petersburg artists in all its diversity.

Science and technology: During the festival, visitors will be able to test the smart StarLine unmanned vehicle on the Obvodny Canal embankment. For this, the movement of the waterfront section will be officially closed for travel.

Interaction with robots will continue playing air hockey with the Kawasaki robot, a robotics zone from the SUAI, a light tunnel with a collaborative robot Art. Tube Also at Science Fest will be held workshops on the assembly, configuration and piloting of a Copter Express copter, which were the first in the world to launch a commercial air delivery service using UAVs.

Technopark "Lenpolygraphmash", a regional operator of the Skolkovo Foundation, will present a large area with presentations of innovations, technological installations and lectures in the areas of fashion-tech, science & media art, VR, neuro and robotics.

In one of the most atmospheric places of St. Petersburg - in Annenkirch - the block of the Science and media art festival will be concentrated. Within the charred walls of the Lutheran Church of St. Anne, Science Fest will present exhibitions of media artists of St. Petersburg, including media artists of the Youth House Square, interdisciplinary artist Yegor Kraft, Ildar Yakubov, and the Optics Museum will present its optical installation. Lectures on Science and media art will be delivered by Dmitry Bulatov, Sergey Stafeev, Dmitry Konovalov, Maria Vyatkina.

At the Science Fest 2018 in Lumiere Hall, the premiere of Russia’s first documentary film about applicants to the Cosmonaut Squad "Way to Heaven" from the space film company Space Film Industries will premiere.

In addition to the program at the main venues with the Science Fest 2018 ticket, it will be possible to visit the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of the Russian Railways, the Museum of Optics and the Museum of Cosmonautics.
