The 315th anniversary of St. Petersburg will be celebrated with "Classics on the Palace"

Translated from Latin, tradition means "tradition." As long as there is something to love, cherish and pass on to each other, the connection of time and generation is inextricable. In St. Petersburg, this is especially acute. Each new era gives rise to new traditions here, but, if you look closely, they are strong in truly Petersburg habits. Take, for example, the love of classics: our city has remained faithful to it for the fourth century, and it does not cease to be fashionable and modern.

According to a tradition deeply in tune with the city, St. Petersburg will celebrate its 315th anniversary with the grandiose open-air “Classics on Palace”, which is held on the initiative of the Government of St. Petersburg with the support of the Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg.

On May 26, viewers will meet with incredible opera voices and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of an exquisite music show, where modern technology and unique art-visual effects are at the service of the immortal genius of classical art.

The concert program will again surprise fans of classical art with the versatility of its repertoire and the charismatic performance of the masterpieces of Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Bizet, Verdi, Guno, Strauss and other great composers.

The headliner of the evening will be a brilliant duet of stars of the world opera scene.

He is an outstanding tenor of our time, a bold experimenter and the owner of a truly Sicilian disposition. Music lovers all over the world pronounce his name in a row with Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti.

She is the Polish "queen of improvisation" with the talent of a dramatic actress, the owner of an inimitably light soprano and just a favorite of the public around the world.

Together they, Roberto Alanya and Alexandra Kurzhak, are a bright creative and married couple, and Classic on the Palace is their debut open-air in Russia.

This evening, Petersburgers and city guests will be able to enjoy another magnificent soprano: BBC Laureate of the Singer of the World Valentina Nafornitsa will take part in open-air at the Palace for the second time. In 2015, the square applauded the brilliant duet of Valentina and the legend of the world opera Dmitry Hvorostovsky.

The real decoration of the program “Classics” - 2018 will be performers whose skill and talent are in demand by the most prestigious opera stages in the world. The golden voices of the Russian opera school will congratulate Petersburg on its 315th anniversary: Venus Gimadieva, Alexei Markov, Oksana Volkova, Pavel Kolgatin, Alexey Tikhomirov Alexander Trofimov.

The dance part of the show will be decorated with soloists of the Bolshoi and Mikhailovsky theaters, Alla Dukhova’s ballet “TODES”, and ballet dancers of the Leonid Yakobson Theater. The premiere performance of the DUET dance and sports club, the reigning world champion in Latin American dances, will spice up the Classics program with unrestrained expression and a bewitching synchronization of performance.

The tradition of holding concerts in the open air exists in many cities in Europe, but only the "Classics on the Palace" turns each program number into a separate performance. Thanks to the unique video content and high-tech scenography, the improvised open-air auditorium, stage and even orchestra will be involved in a single virtual space of images, sketches, landscapes and interiors based on timeless works of world art.

Beloved by the townspeople, the cultural brand of St. Petersburg “Classics on the Palace” attracts the attention of not only Petersburgers, but also Russian and foreign tourists. The audience of the show is growing every year, and there is no doubt that this year, becoming the vibrant musical code of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the event will again gather more than half a million viewers in rotation and will undoubtedly serve to strengthen the international image of our city.
