Igor Andreev lives in Astrakhan. In a city that is not eventful. Yes, he does not remove events. Igor captures the memories. “When photographing children, I seem to be trying to look simultaneously in two opposite directions - I look back, recalling my own cloudless childhood and at the same time I am trying to make out the future generation that will live in the new Russia. I would like to comprehend and convey the collective image of the provincial children. ”

Sixty years ago, one boy gave a new toy dump truck to a firefly, just because "it is alive and glowing." Since then, nothing has changed. Flea cats are more important than virtual horses hatching from eggs. Playing with trash cards is more reckless than any computer strategy. And although a mobile phone is probably in the pockets of each of Igor’s heroes, they’re not up to it. Real life is much more exciting: homemade jewelry, great and cars, friendship, betrayal, dates, partings. All this - has always been and always will be. Therefore, it does not matter at all how and on which wall you will update your status. Someone will do this on the network, someone on the garage tin. The essence will never change, because sadness and pain are always real, especially if you came, and "Lisa went to her grandmother."

Chronology

1970-1971. Dad taught to photograph, helped to master photographic processes.

1981. Visited Cuba, twice passed the Panama Canal. For the first time I realized that it is possible to shoot with interest and interest not only the faces of relatives or friends of your people.

1982-1988. He moved from Astrakhan to Vladivostok, went to the seas for six years on fishing trawlers, visited Antarctica, in all the oceans except the Arctic.
