Summer educational program for the exhibition "Masterpieces of painting and engraving of the Edo era"

The Pushkin Museum. A. S. Pushkin is preparing for the main event of the fall - the opening of the large-scale exhibition "Masterpieces of Painting and Engraving of the Edo Era" with the support of Rosneft. The project will be the main event of the cross year of Russia and Japan. The exhibition will feature more than 120 works by artists from various traditional art schools. For the first time, the Russian public will see the whole palette of artistic movements of Japanese art of the 17th – 19th centuries, including works by artists from the schools of Kano, Tosa, Rimp, Nang, Maruyama-Shijou, ukiyo-e. In addition to the monuments from Japanese collections, the exposition will be supplemented by works from Russian museums: painting from the Pushkin Museum to them. A.S. Pushkin, as well as painting and engraving from the Museum of the East.

A summer program of lectures on Japanese art and master classes in ink painting and calligraphy have been prepared for the exhibition.

The lecture is delivered by Anna V. Guseva, art critic, associate professor of the School of Historical Sciences of the Higher School of Economics.

“The Great in the Small” (on small forms in Japanese art and literature)
The lecture is delivered by Elena Mikhailovna Dyakonova, candidate of philological sciences, professor at the Institute of Oriental Cultures and Antiquities of the Russian State Humanitarian University, leading researcher at IMLI RAS.

The lecture is delivered by Galina Borisovna Shishkina, senior researcher at the State Museum of the East.

The workshop is hosted by Olga Selivanova, a member of the All Japan Suibokuga-Art Association, Tokyo, Japan.

Calligraphy Workshop
The workshop is hosted by Kaori Isijima, a graduate of the Institute of Calligraphy in Ito, Japan (1999), a participant and winner of numerous calligraphy exhibitions, and a certified teacher of calligraphy.
