International exhibition "Window to France. Norman Format"

April 27, 2016 at 18.00 at the Museum of Art of St. Petersburg of the XX-XXI centuries, the opening of the international exhibition of paintings and graphics "Window to France: the Norman format." In anticipation of the IV International Normandy Open Air Painting Competition held under the patronage of UNESCO, winners and participants of previous competitions will present more than 100 paintings and graphic works in St. Petersburg.

The large-format plein air international competition is part of the Normandy Impressionist festival program, which takes place in France from April 16 to September 26, 2016 and covers various types of art: painting, literature, theater. The attention of guests of the St. Petersburg exhibition will be attracted by the installation of a half-timbered house decorated with fresh flowers. Visitors will be able to admire the delights of French cuisine, which they will find in a special "Gastronomic closet", relax in the impromptu garden of Claude Monet, created from fantasy flowers, see the landscapes-impressions of Russian artists who travel to France. Viewers will be convinced that France is not only the Eiffel Tower in the capital, but also the harsh coast of Normandy with wide forests, apple plantations and romantic estates.

The authors of the works will hold various art master classes: visitors to the exhibition will be able to create their own works of art, collect flower arrangements, participate in contests and win prizes from French sponsors, take pictures in a staged workshop with a palette and brushes.

The large-format plein air competition was organized by the Cultural Crossroads Association, which also holds numerous events in Russia and France, bringing together Russian and French cultures.

In St. Petersburg, the exhibition will be supported by the Consulate General of France and the French Institute in Russia.
