On November 12, at 18. 30, the meeting “Following the Sukachev’s tracks” will be held, at which the participant of the historical expedition to the Crimea, head Natalia Goncharenko’s department “Manor of V. P. Sukachev” will tell about the results of searches for the burial of Vladimir Platonovich Sukachev and about the traces of his stay in Crimea.
Recall the mayor, philanthropist, whose collection of paintings formed the basis of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum, V.P. Sukachev died on December 21, 1919 (old style) in Bakhchisarai, but the exact place of his burial was lost. The purpose of the expedition to the Crimea was to search for the burial place of Sukachev. The trip was made possible thanks to the help of the Irkutsk brotherhood of St. Innocent and the Archival Service of the Republic of Crimea. Together with Natalia Goncharenko, the chairman of the Irkutsk charity foundation Patriot Sergey Kozhenkov also took part in the expedition.
The expedition members held several meetings with famous Crimean local historians and necropolists: the head of the State Archival Service of the Republic of Crimea Oleg Lobov, deputy. Chairman of the State Committee for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Crimea Vyacheslav Zarubin, head of the archival department of the administration of the Bakhchisaray district Lyudmila Smirnova, employees of the Bakhchisaray historical and cultural reserve and the Central Museum of Taurida. And also with Archimandrite Siluan, rector of the Holy Assumption Monastery in the city of Bakhchisarai, and the leadership of the Bakhchisarai Improvement Plant, which manages the city’s cemeteries.
As a result of the searches, an entry was found in the metric book about the exact date of the death of Vladimir Sukachev. Oleg Lobov solemnly handed over to the representative of the Irkutsk Art Museum Natalya Goncharenko an archive certificate and a copy of the extract from the metric book. In the document, the burial place is designated as “city cemetery”. However, there were several of those in Bakhchisarai at the beginning of the last century. And the expedition members tried to find out exactly where Vladimir Sukachev was buried.
A meeting in the estate will be devoted to the results of searches, as well as the amazing connection between our city, the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum and Crimean land. The story will be accompanied by numerous photographs taken by Natalia Goncharenko during an expedition to the Crimea. Free admission. We are waiting for everyone on Thursday November 12 at 18. 30.
