The Russian Academy of Arts and the Union of French Artists, with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in France and the Stella Art International Association, in the halls of the Zurab Tsereteli Art Gallery at ul. Prechistenka, 19 represent the exhibition "SALON OF FRENCH ARTISTS IN MOSCOW."
The exposition will include more than 50 works of easel painting, graphics, mosaics, sculptures, architecture and photography of 42 masters of modern art. This is a continuation of the bilateral Russian-French cultural project, which began in February 2017, when the Association of French Artists invited the Russian Academy of Arts to take part in the international exhibition “Art en Capital”, which has been held in Paris since 1901 in the Grand Palais) The exhibition received a wide public response and contributed to the strengthening of cultural and creative ties between our countries. A warm welcome was given to the Russian participants, their work received recognition - the Russian Academy of Arts was awarded the gold medal of the Salon.
In response to the further development of our partnerships and exchange of experience, was the invitation of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Z. Tsereteli to hold an exhibition of works by French artists in Moscow, which was received with great enthusiasm and gratitude.
The last exhibition of works by French artists was held in Moscow in March 1986. Then the French delegation was led by the president of the Academy of Fine Arts of France, an honorary foreign member of the Russian Academy of Arts Arnaud D’Otriv. Therefore, for the development of creative contacts and dialogue aimed at the long term, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of showing an exhibition of works by French colleagues in Moscow in a significant year for the Russian Academy of Arts, when it celebrates its 260th anniversary.
The Association of French Artists is the direct descendant of the Salon, created by Colbert for Louis XIV. Membership in the Association is marked by the names of the greatest artists who have been part of it over the past centuries. Among them are Auguste Bartholdy, Camille Claudel, Eugene Delacroix, Gustave Dore, Andre Dunoye de Segonzak, Jean-Honore Fragonard, Charles Garnier, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Aristide Mayol, Edouard Manet, Auguste Renoir, Elisabeth-Rodinhard, Auguste Rodout Vigee-Lebrun, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and many other eminent masters of fine art. In 1881, the Association received its modern name.
Each year, under the arches of the Grand Palais, painters, sculptors, engravers, plastic artists, photographers and architects submit their works. Free, active, inventive and talented artists from different countries demonstrate in their work the diverse trends of contemporary art. This particular dynamism creates an atmosphere of lively communication between authors and a wide audience, contributes to the mutual enrichment of various artistic movements, and creates the prerequisites for predicting the further development of art.
For the Russian Academy of Arts and the Association of French Artists, the exchange of exhibition projects is an important link in expanding the centuries-old cultural exchange between our countries, which has always yielded the most fruitful results.
It is gratifying that people of creative professions, artists are able to find mutual understanding, despite the challenges that often arise in the life of modern society. These problems can only be solved by joint efforts, establishing and developing contacts, primarily in the field of culture and art.
