Your inner house. Exhibition of Hope Albul

“I am very interested in the idea of constant interaction. For example, I’m interested in the ideas of Tokyo artist Surasi Kusolvong, who, working with the exposition space, creates scenarios for the interaction of the object and the audience in an acute ironic form. ”

Our house is a big city that seeks a balance between the natural and the industrial. This is a closed system of production and consumption, which is constantly increasing due to new forms.

Trees grow on the streets of the city, the fallen leaves of which served as the material for the series of graphic works “Herbarium”. It is unlikely that one can study plant species from them, but one can at least make sure of their presence. Just as the leaves found in the center of St. Petersburg leave an imprint on a sheet of paper under the pressure of a printed press, so the city constantly exerts pressure on the nature growing through it.

Speaking about the works that will be presented at the exhibition “Your Inner House”, it is worth paying attention to what different materials were used to create them: from natural resources, to details and mechanisms, the so-called production waste. The very idea of using these details carries the idea of preserving the environment. Industrial waste is recycled into an art object, creating space for new insights.
