Nadzhip Nakkash (Nadzhip Fayzrakhmanovich Ismagilov) was born in 1948 in the village of Usali, Mamadysh district. After leaving school he studied in absentia at the People’s University of the Arts. Krupskaya in Moscow (1969 - 1972). In 1974 he entered the faculty of Tatar philology of KSU, after which he worked at the Institute of Language, Literature and Art.
Najip Nakkash is a Tatar calligrapher who was one of the first to revive the traditions of Shamail art. His works are bright and original, they feel the national flavor. Najip Nakkash is fluent in different styles and handwriting of Arabic writing. He revived and raised to a new level the forgotten genre of Arabic calligraphy - Tugra (personal signs, family coats of arms).
His works took part in many republican, interregional and international exhibitions, for his services in reviving the tradition of calligraphy he was awarded the title "Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan".
The exhibition, organized at the Khazine National Art Gallery, is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay. The main place is occupied by the cycle of works with poetic lines of the poet.
The exhibition features 60 works.
The exhibition will run until March 3, 2016.
