My life was full of adventures, events and unpredictable twists of fate.
I love women.
I love my children. Since when I saw how they grow, I taught them a lot and, observing them, learned from them.
Today I perceive life as it is, but always with joy and philosophically, without illusions about myself and others. At 87, I understand that a curtain can fall at any moment!
Painting is what brings me real pleasure….
Pal Sarkozy
This is not the first show of the works of P. Sarkozy in Moscow. The previous exhibition entitled “Unconscious” was held in the same Gallery in 2011. The exhibition included joint works by Pal Sarkozy and Werner Hornung, made using the latest technology in the style of "digital art." Sarkozy’s traditional graphic approach and Hornung’s computer design experience have enabled them to create a new personal style. The result of their creative collaboration, which began back in 2008, was the holding of more than 20 exhibitions in many countries of the world.
According to colleagues and friends, the first impression that comes with meeting Pal Sarkozy is that he is an unusually strong-minded person who, despite his eventful biography, takes everything from life. Even in difficult moments, he does not give up, retaining his unique love of life and the will to change.
Even at the first glance at the artist’s works, you can get an idea of his philosophy of life, his passion for life and the pursuit of something new. Not so long ago, the artist had the idea to create an exhibition of Art Dominos, which will feature portraits of people of different nationalities, cultural traditions, various social and religious groups, which Pal Sarkozy depicted on the principle of playing dominoes.
The combination of these episodes into a single picture allows the viewer to observe the interaction of the plots presented as a whole, or separately. The life experience and rich artistic imagination of Pal Sarkozy provide an opportunity for a wide interpretation of his works, as diverse as his life.
The exhibition, which included about 70 works - collages, paintings created by the artist in recent years, allows the viewer to plunge into the extraordinary world of the artist, constantly striving for new discoveries, will allow you to touch all the facets of Pal Sarkozy’s work, which is revered in different corners of the world, in France and Spain, in Beijing and Moscow.
Biography: P. Sarkozy - a descendant of Hungarian aristocrats, a foreign legionnaire, a businessman whose life matches the plot of an exciting adventure film, the father of five children, one of whom was the president of France. Pal Istvan Erno Nagy Bocha Sarkozy (Sarkozy von Nagy Bocha, Sarkozy de Nagy Bocha) was born in Budapest in 1928. The nobility of the Sarkozy family was granted in 1628 by Emperor Ferdinand II, king of the Czech Republic and Hungary.
In 1944, the family moved from Hungary to Western Europe. After numerous adventures in Austria and a brief return to his homeland, young Sarkozy again came to Austria in 1948 and became a fighter of the French Foreign Legion. Not wanting to take part in the bloody war in Indochina, a few months later he was demobilized and went first to Marseille and then to Paris, where his affairs steadily went uphill. In 1950, he married a law student, the daughter of a famous doctor in a respectable 17th Paris district. Three boys were born to the spouses: Guillaume (1952), Nicolas (1955) and Francois (1957). This marriage was far from the only one, Pal now lives with his fourth wife, Iness, whom he married in 1970.
Years later, Pal Sarkozy succinctly described his first Parisian period: “It took me fifteen days to find work, one year to get married and ten years to become the father of three children and create my own business.” In 1960, he founded his advertising company, which later brought him millions. He has worked with the world’s most famous brands and fashion houses such as Dior and L’Oreal. But at the beginning of the new century, he left his business to finally devote himself to painting.
