Exhibition "The great classics of the twentieth century. Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall"

At the numerous requests of Irkutsk citizens and residents of the region, the Irkutsk Art Museum decided to extend the work of the exhibition “Great Classics of the 20th Century. Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall. You will be able to see the works of the most famous artists who have revolutionized art, who determined the appearance and main trends of modernism until August 23, 2015. Recall that initially the period of displaying the exhibition in Irkutsk was limited on August 9. The extension of the work of the “Great Classics of the Twentieth Century” will allow the city dwellers returning to Irkutsk after holidays and schoolchildren who spent their holidays outside the city to visit the exhibition. The Irkutsk Art Museum notes that the exhibition is of great interest to the public. It is visited not only by residents of the regional center, but also by tourists, including foreign ones.

The exhibition includes 57 works of authors, without which there would be no Fauvism, Cubism, abstractionism, surrealism. Artists believed that art could change lives. Indeed, modernism escaped from gallery halls, influenced architecture, design, music, fashion, television - it became a whole era, not yet fully experienced. The real laboratory of modernism was painting, primarily graphics. In the work of individual authors, whole directions and styles arose. It is from the graphic works of these artists that an exhibition is formed.

The chronology of the presented works covers a significant part of the twentieth century until the 70s, when the authors were still alive and continued to work. The exhibition gives a whole range of style searches, includes figurative and abstract works. She represents those basic artistic values of the modern era that are now studied in schools and universities around the world.
