The Year of Literature in the gallery "XXI Century " opens with an exhibition of narrator Alexander Wojciechowski

January 20 at 18:00 the opening of the exhibition “DATE WITH CHARACTERS” will take place on the site of the GALLERY of the XXI CENTURY of the Association “Exhibition Halls of Moscow”.

The exhibition will be held from January 20 to February 8, 2015.

The Year of Literature in the GALLERY of the XXI CENTURY opens with an exhibition of contemporary St. Petersburg storyteller Alexander Wojciechowski.

The world of his drawings is filled with heroes, characters in the same way as a literary or dramatic work. He is not an illustrator of other people’s texts, and not even an illustrator of his own stories. He creates touching characters, and then delicately allows them to communicate, live, act within the framework of the plastic language of graphics.

His ironic paintings almost always give the viewer a smile. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it is interesting to get to know the characters, to look at them with gentle attention, to listen to their stories. At the “Date with Characters” exhibition, some of the artist’s heroes will take on real dimensions and move out of the sheet plane into the space of the hall.

“I believe that the paradox of the birth of Alexander Wojciechowski as an artist explains to us, and once again reminds us that art is not a craft, but a revelation. If a person has something to tell, a path appears. Our hero does not hide behind virtuoso bold touches, does not surprise everyone with the severity and stability of the composition. He sings with pencils. I would even say that he confesses his love with pencils. The human face of the author, kind and friendly, speaking and listening to you, is manifested in each of his works. Alexander Petrovich Wojciechowski was born in 1964 in Moscow. Lives in St. Petersburg. 10 years worked as an emergency doctor. He took part in expeditions in Central Asia. In 1994, at the initiative of friends, the first exhibition of his drawings took place.

Group and solo exhibitions were held in Russia, the USA, Israel, Japan, England, France, Germany, Switzerland.

The 21st century gallery, as a new, interactive type of exhibition institution with its own niche in the world of visual culture, appeared on the art map of Moscow in 2002. The gallery creates exhibition projects that are different in genres and types of fine art, which are aimed at immersing the viewer in both traditional forms of art and modern visual practices. The gallery team is guided, first of all, by a high artistic level, thoughtfulness of the exposition, which necessarily is based on the concept of the artist and curator of the exhibition.
