The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Marina Aleksandrovna Kabysh “Themes with Variations”. The exhibition will feature about 30 paintings from different years.
The master’s canvases are diverse in genre range and stylistic techniques, but at the same time they are thought out and balanced in color. Portraits and still lifes, inspired landscapes intrigue the viewer with the dynamics of multi-figure compositions. In his works, the artist talks about what he saw with the help of a free, sweeping brushstroke and a sophisticated color palette, rich in subtle nuances.
In an amazing way, the author’s works are collected in cycles, which gives them an extension in time. These are her Crimean landscapes, written based on impressions from trips to Gurzuf, and picturesque series created while traveling in Italy, France, Greece, Great Britain, China, Thailand, and Cuba. Particularly characteristic and expressive are the paintings “Tomorrow at Sea” (2022-2024) and “Road to the Sea” (2021-2024), where M. A. Kabysh subtly captures the ironic, but at the same time paradoxical reality.
The multi-part panel “The Life of Grass” (2014), created for a children’s health center, is a vivid example of the artist’s search and experiments with form, plane and color. The main theme was plants, their growth, flowering and wilting. Thanks to the chosen close-up and crushing by raster color separation, the viewer’s gaze embraces the individual elements of the composition as if from the outside, from the outside. This allows you to feel the living, plastic structure of plants.
Emotionally, the master is close to the everyday life and unique features of Central Russian landscapes. This could be a randomly noticed motif on the pond - “Summer. The Other Shore" (2018) or the multi-figure canvas "Collecting Fruits" (2023-2024). The sophistication of color relationships creates a vibrating surface of the paintings. Modern life, where there is a play of rhythms and dynamics of color spots, fills her canvases “Salsa” (2021) and “Shopping Center. City" (2020), marked by impulsive "eventfulness".
In the artist’s easel works, the world of a sincere and caring person opens up, living in art according to his own creative laws, who has mastered the profession with true skill, having learned to leave the main thing on the canvas, cutting off the unnecessary. The exhibition of Marina Kabysh in the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts is a creative journey with new subjects and new discoveries that the painter is preparing for the viewer.
